IWICS Releases Latest ODMA Firmware Testing Results

(04/07/2010 - Bothell, Washington, USA)

IWICS announced that it has completed testing of its latest ODMA communications firmware release. The release is the first version developed by IWICS and its partners that addresses all aspects of a true ODMA network implementation since the development of specialty systems developed in South Africa in the late 1990's. Previous IWICS ODMA firmware versions simplified many aspects of the ODMA protocols to accommodate limitations of the WiFi hardware employed by IWICS to build ultra-low cost systems. Recent breakthroughs in engineering have allowed for a more complete ODMA implementation to be completed running on the same inexpensive WiFi hardware.

Laboratory testing of the new firmware showed user to user throughput in excess of 30 megabits per second in a full simulation of 2.4 GHz unlicensed network which included typical conditions such as cross fading and adjacent interference. The testing result was accomplished on the same hardware which had previously achieved performance up to 4 megabits per second.

"We are very excited by the breakthrough we have achieved in implementing a more complete ODMA system on low-cost WiFi-based hardware. This achievement allows us to now pursue our goal of providing manufacturing partners with the core technology necessary to implement complete ODMA solutions and to gain the advantage of a true ODMA network implementation" said David Mendes, President/COO of IWICS.
